“There is no drugs can compete with the natural high” – Greg Plitt
What supplements should I take George? What supplements do you recommend? What supplements do you use? I hear it a lot, so here I am to answer these questions for you now.
Unless you’re taking an illegal performance enhancing drug (which I obviously do not recommend), it’s important to know that there isn’t a single pill or other supplement that can make up for a diet that’s too high in fat, salt, sugar, and too low in protein, vegetables, and other healthy nutrients.
If you’re thinking that a supplement will give you that quick fix result, think again.
Pretty much all the “fat-burning” and “muscle-building” supplements available are completely useless, produce negligible results and are a total waste of money. Their scientific claims are backed up with biased and poorly conducted studies. Basically they just hire scientists to adjust their analysis to make their supplement look good.
People are still falling for these marketing companies all the time, and it’s becoming a big business!
A market research firm from Tampa, Florida reported that in the year 2000, Americans spent nearly $35 BILLION on diets and weight loss products.
There are over one-thousand different manufacturers producing over 20,000 different products, and all are consumed by 100 million people! If these supplements actually worked, everyone should be lean physique models by now right?
How do these companies achieve this? They simply tell you just about anything to get you to buy their products. They’ll even lie right to your face if they can get away with it. And the fact that the industry is so loosely regulated allows them to get away with it easily.
Let’s take an example of this in action. Many people enjoy buying fitness magazines that offer free advice and tips on supporting their health goals. They appear to have credible and reliable sources of information and yes that’s sometimes true, but not always. The actual publishers of these magazines often also own a supplement company or two and so use their magazine pages to promote and push their products to the people. Even if they don’t own a company, the magazine collects plenty of advertising revenue from other companies to promote their products and the publishers will do their best to make the supplement look attractive to buy. Check it out next time you read a magazine from a fitness company. Is it a fitness guide? Or is it more of a supplement catalogue?
Supplements vs Drugs
Another important point to understand is that all supplements are simply foods. Steroids on the other hand are drugs. Plain and clear. Sometimes you will have companies push a new exciting product that claims to have “drug like effects” but these again are all lies. Supplements cannot and will not ever have drug like effects. It’s impossible and it’s all fake marketing hype. That being said, whenever a supplement did actually seem to have surprising results, the FDA quickly fly in and start a full investigation to see what’s really going on. More often than not, they find that the supplement actually contains illegal ingredients that are harmful to the body, the product gets pulled and the company gets shut down.
A recent example of this was a product called Triax. When it was released, it had fat falling off people so quickly people were just sweating 24 hours a day! The FDA investigated and soon found that it contained Tiratricol, which is a powerful and illegal thyroid drug! Triax immediately got removed from all stores.
The value of results
At the end of the day, everyone will naturally gravitate towards the path that’s easiest. If there seems to be a product or quick fix that can give them an awesome body then they’ll take it. But remember we only value what we earn. When we put a cheat code into a game and get a load of free coins, we don’t feel the pride of having earned those coins and the satisfaction it brings. We want to change our bodies and appearance to feel better but we will only feel proud of our body if we earn every result we claim for ourselves. With every endeavor comes an opportunity. But if you don’t believe in that opportunity, the opportunity doesn’t have value.
So if supplements don’t give us the big results we expect, then how do we do it?
Simple. My guys signal their muscles to build, tone and develop through an effective training routine that produces natural healthy hormones and signals a demand for protein synthesis into muscle. At the same time, I have them on an awesome nutrition program that supplies the body with the correct nutrients and muscle building blocks to meet that new demand. By training and eating the right way, at the right time and in the correct amounts, the system works synergistically to produce exponential results and progress comes much faster. Not only is it faster, but it’s natural, sustainable and healthy for the body. All that being said, there are a few select supplements I recommend in my programs that will compliment and compound these results even more, but most of the progress comes through a foundation of real nutrition and training for maximum results.
Most people reading this won’t listen to me and they’ll keep on buying “steroid-like” supplements and “drug-like” fat burners, but if you’ll heed my advice, you could save hundreds or even thousands of dollars on products that could never possibly help you burn fat or build muscle. It might sound cheesy, but investing in a tried and tested honest program is a much better use of money. A real coach is much better than any supplements that money can buy.
